The POD Nightclub

The POD, the most exciting thing to hit Harcourt Street since the 9:00 from Wexford in 1900, was revealed on 13th April 1993. The POD, a 90's testament to the perfect venue is located in two stone vaults at the old Harcourt Street Railway Station in Dublin city centre.



Located in a building that's as off beat as it is historic, without a single hint of conventionality within it's portals, the club was designed by 'European Designer of the Year' Ron McCulloch. A music led club environment with a serious degree of style, it is equipped with almost 5,000 square feet of floor space and a 20k Turbo Sound System. Designer Ron McCulloch, who owns The Tunnel in Glasgow and London and has also designed The Tunnel in New York and Otto Zutz in Barcelona, has already overseen two major refurbishments at POD since it first opened ensuring that POD always maintains it's contemporary edge on the rest.



In November of the year POD first opened it swept the boards at the European Disco Club & Leisure International Awards which were held in London, winning a total of five awards including overall winner in the Club Design of the Year (Europe) and Club of the Year (Ireland) categories and runner up in the Club of the Year (Europe) and Sound System of the Year categories. Consistently winning awards ever since…in October '98 POD won 'Best Club Venue' at the annual Ericsson Muzik Magazine Dance Awards - proving that even after 5 years POD still has it's finger on the pulse.



The VIP bar in POD is still one of the most popular haunts amongst many celebrities who visit Dublin attracting a whole host of national and international stars. Likewise, the hallowed DJ box, now suspended above the dance floor, has wooed many a Superstar DJ including Danny Rampling, Paul Oakenfold, Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, Joey Negro, Boy George, Jon Pleased Wimmin, Nigel Dawson and Jeremy Healy to name but a few.
